Commitment - Jim Hall (1976)

My favorite Jim Hall album. My University guitar teacher and friend Gary Schwartz made me listen to this album. You hear Jim with different musicians: Tommy Flanagan, Art Farmer, Ron Carter, Don Thompson, Terry Clarke, and in a duo with his wife Jane… Jim also plays a duo with himself (overdub…). I learned a lot from listening to this album. A great master at the peak of his art. All my students have to play his solo from 'Indian Summer'.

Mon album préféré de Jim Hall. Mon professeur de guitare à l’université et ami, Gary Schwartz, m’a fait découvrir cet album. On y retrouve Jim avec différents musiciens: Tommy Flanagan, Art Farmer, Ron Carter, Don Thompson, Terry Clarke, en duo avec sa femme Jane... Jim y joue aussi un duo avec lui-même (overdub...). J'ai beaucoup appris en écoutant cet album. Un grand maître au sommet de son art. Tous mes étudiants doivent jouer son solo sur “Indian Summer”.
